What Your Esthetician Wants You To Know - Lash Lifting Part III

Anything that I offer here at Essential Esthetics by Zoey I have experienced. What you gain by coming to see me if that I’ve been trained and certified to offer these services PLUS I have experienced them on the other side of the table. This is very important to me. I want to know what the treatments feel like, so that I can do a better job describing what you as the client will experience any time that you receive an unfamiliar service from me. I work to always stay up to date on trends and education in all realms of skincare, waxing, and lash lifting.

If you’ve never had a lash lifting service before, I’d love to share with you what your Esthetician wants you to know. Here are a couple of my top shares!

#1 - A lash lift is not the same as eyelash extensions. People like to compare them, but they are just so different. If you are looking to truly add width, you may want to explore eyelash extensions.

#2 - Your eyes will need to remain closed all the way. If your eyes are opened at all, the product can irritate you. We definitely don’t want that. We want to keep them happy, healthy and white.

#3 - When removing the products, if you squeeze your eyes tightly, it actually will draw the product inside the eyelid instead of wiping it away. Remain relaxed and your Esthetician will not only be able to do it faster, but also with less rubbing. Also, if your eyes are sensitive or twitchy, you may want to stick to your eyelash curler at home.

#4 - Make sure that you are following the aftercare. If you don’t … you’ll shorten the length of the lash lift. Our goal is always to get 6 weeks from this treatment.

#5 - Consider using a lash conditioner. Yes, your Esthetician may not have even mention it (I know I’m guilty.) But because this is a chemical process and the eyelash itself is delicate, you will receive a better result if you condition lashes starting 72 hours after a lift.

#6 - Did things not go exactly how you wanted it to? Your Esthetician really wants to know … because we can document if we need to shorten or extend your process time, change to a different rod, start on the left eye instead of the right, etc. We can’t change what we don’t know is bothering you. When you come in 6-8 weeks later, you may have forgotten the changes you were looking for. Reach out to let them know if it’s too curly, not curly enough so your lash artist can add notes for your next appointment.

Eyelashes are delicate, but beautiful in their natural state. A lash lift may be right for you! Or it may not. This is one service that I really think you have to try to see if you like it or if you are better suited for eyelash extensions.

First Time Lash Lift Answers

If you’ve never had a lash lift, but always wanted to, let’s chat. You may think you have seen it all on tik tok, but I’d love to share some helpful tips for you to get you the best results possible.

Before your appointment

You’ll want to remove any and all eye makeup. This makes it easier not only for the Esthetician, but also allow the products for lash lifting to work better.

You’ll also want to know the after care as you are planning out your week. I send a text to new clients about what they need to avoid in order for the lash lift to be long lasting.

During your appointment

Your eyes will be closed for the appointment. I like to describe the process as I’m working, because if you are anything like me, it’s a little weird when you aren’t sure what’s happening.

My description goes something like this. If you imagine a solid pringles can, split that in half. The flat side of the silicon rod will go on your eyelid and then rounded side will be where we place the lashes. The adhesive is water based, so when we rinse at the end, it will come off pretty easily. Making sure the lashes are in the best placement possible is the longest part of the appointment.

You’ll be welcomed into the 80s with the perm vibe. That is the lifting solution. After the lifting solution, there is a setting solution. All of these are wiped away and your new lifted lashes will be revealed. It’s always such an exciting process. However, once you put on mascara, you’ll be able to see the full results as the lash lift cannot add volume to the lashes.

After your appointment

You’ll want to make sure that you follow the instructions to make your lash lift last and to get the most out of them.

For 24 hours -

• No mascara, eye makeup

• Keep them dry and don’t touch them

• No eye creams

For 48 hours -

• No steam

• No saunas

• No swimming

• No lash growth serums

If you love it, you’ll want to come back about every 6 to 8 weeks to get the new lashes that weren’t lifted up the last time. This is one of the easiest treatments that gives you instant results without all of the spa time needed for extensions. I’d love to help you try it out, so let’s get you on the schedule!

Getting Ready for a Facial? Tips for Your First Time!

camille-brodard-VxAwTeiqDao-unsplash.jpg

If you haven’t had an opportunity to have a facial yet, I invite you to come and experience it! If you’ve had a massage, you might already know a little of what to expect. At Essential Esthetics by Zoey, I LOVE treating clients to a facial that I would want to receive over and over again. I like to marry results with relaxation. While product is sitting on your skin, we are wrapping your feet with hot towels, putting your hands into the warming mitts, and lots of light massage.

If you are using retinols or very active products, it is recommended to stop using them 3-5 days before your facial. If you are on Accutane, you’ll need to avoid facials for up to a year after you discontinue the medication. You don’t need to wipe off makeup or really do anything before a facial. We will cleanse, exfoliate and use the LED light therapy every time. Most facial treatments include a mask of some kind as well. If you have any questions before your facial, please ask! Estheticians want to make sure that treatments are right for you. We’ll consult beforehand about your skin goals, and I’ll give you all the details of what I’d like to do to help you achieve them. This will include that day’s appointment, future appointments and recommendations for home care.

After your facial, you’ll want to drink extra water, stay out of the sun, wear SPF and reapply throughout the days coming, and change your pillowcase. You also want to avoid exfoliating and using retinols for a couple of days. If you have questions after your facial, don’t hesitate to ask those as well. We want your skin to be glowing and your experience to be amazing.

Welcome to Beautiful Pocatello & Chubbuck

Welcome to the best cities of Idaho. I was born and raised here and am so happy to call this place home. I have loved the community feel and the people that live and work in these cities. If you are new to the area (or visiting,) I'd love to personally welcome you to the valley.

Welcome to the best cities of Idaho. I was born and raised here and am so happy to call this place home. I have loved the community feel and the people that live and work in these cities. If you are new to the area (or visiting,) I'd love to personally welcome you to the valley. Pocatello is the smile capitol of the world too! I hope that you love it here!

There are so many resources to finding your way around the community. I'd love to point you to some of them, and then share some of my favorite businesses located between the mountains.

The Pocatello Chamber of Commerce has many links available right at your fingertips. Just head on over to www.pocatelloidaho.com From there, you can roll your mouse over resources and then member directory which is organized by type of business. You can also click on Life in Pocatello which shares things to do, again arranged by category. I love how easy it is to find what you are looking for!

Another resource is the Idaho State Journal reader’s choice awards. Each year, businesses and service providers are nominated and then voted for. You can see the top 3-5 finalists in each category. I have been a finalist for the last 4 years and counting. Thank you local clients for your votes and supports!

Locals in the area will write Google reviews, so you can read what we like about businesses there. Search for a service or business and click on the stars to see the average, or click on newest, highest, lowest etc to read the individual reviews. Reviews written on Yelp (or other review sites) are likely written by those that don’t live in Southeast Idaho.

The final favorite spot to find what you are looking for is on local FaceBook groups. Two in particular (and you can search in those groups) are Ongoing Yardsale -Pocatello and Busy Kids in Bannock County - Events, Activities, & Services. Lot of questions and answers on where to go and who to see for doctors, dentists, etc.

I am a native resident of Pocatello. When my husband and I were looking for houses, I told him that I wanted to buy a house in Chubbuck so that I didn't have to say that I was born and raised in Pocatello. (That definitely shows that I was young back in the day! Haha!) But I absolutely love living here and am excited to share a couple of my favorite places.

Geraldine's Bake Shoppe and Deli

When you go, you'll need to order yourself a Peanut Butter Candy. This treat is a favorite of the community (as long as you love peanut butter and chocolate.) It's also part of the school district lunch menu and sometimes referred to as Lunch Lady Peanut Butter Candy. It's delicious!

Butterburr's Restaurant

This is a go to for home style cooking. Fresh soups and breads plus awesome breakfasts. You really can't go wrong. My favorite is the SST - which is a soup or salad, sandwich, and treat. All for a reasonable steal! Love the family vibe.

Woodland Orchards

Woodland Orchards has a mobile caramel apple cottage and sells caramel apples (among other goodies) year round. So yummy and addictive. The owners are the sweetest people in the area as well. Open Saturdays across from CostCo in the Pawn One parking lot.

Idaho State University

ISU has a great campus, complete with a sub which has a bowling alley and movie theater. Super fun to hang out where the students are (especially when they've left for the weekend or holiday break!) The campus is beautiful! And don't forget about the awesome Holt Arena (which was once called the Mini Dome - and locals will sometimes still call it that) which hosts the school's football, basketball, plus things like Simplot Games, Monster Trucks, the Rodeo, and other events!

Historic Downtown

Historic Downtown, located at 420 S. Main St. hosts all kinds of gathering events, including Revive at 5, the Farmer’s Market, Art Walks, the kick off of events like Kindness Week, etc. It is definitely worth checking out when there are vendors there. Love them all and am glad that we have gatherings like this in our small community.

The great outdoors & working out

If you like to keep active, we have so many trails, biking paths, rock climbing, fishing, camping, hunting, and more! It’s so nice to be in a place that we can go do all these things without hours and hours of driving. The views here are incredible and even just driving in the foothills can be such a fun activity for the family. Barrie’s Ski and Sports can point you to times for local rides, local running groups, and more, so check them out. Two great workout spots (if you want to hit a gym) are Jriven and James Barrett Fit Fusion Studio. These two beautiful and talented entrepreneurs bring fun workouts in different levels as well as personal training options.

Looking for Brazilian waxing or facials where you get both results and relaxation? You’ve found me and I’m happy to help you! If you don’t find what you are looking for in this post, I hope that you also now know where to look!!! Again, welcome to our community.

Is a Chemical Peel Right For Me?

katherine-hanlon-dpXBsRxAVHM-unsplash.jpg

If you have ever seen, read, or heard about someone getting a chemical peel, you may only thing of the sheets of skin peeling off of the skin. (Hey! I’m even guilty of receiving one of those.) But, I’m here to let you know that there are different types of chemical peels. Let’s go over those options … and to find out if a chemical peel is right for you!

There are different acids that are used for chemical peels that target different concerns in the skin. Generally speaking, lactic is the most mild and peels like Jessners (salicylic, glycolic, and rescorcinol) are the most aggressive. The more prepped your skin is, the less likely you are to peel or flake with a light or medium type of peel. The amount of peeling does not determine the effectiveness of the chemical peeling.

Common different acids used for chemical exfoliation are lactic, glycolic, malic, mandelic, salicylic, and resorcinol. These acids loosen and break up the glue holding dead skin cells together, revealing fresh, younger, healthy looking skin. Each acid combination will target different skin concerns like dryness, sun spots, acne, and more. I have options for EVERY skin type and EVERY skin care concern. Meaning, the chemical peel may be right for you. Those that are not good candidates are pregnant, cancer, diabetes, and other major health concerns.

If you’ve always wanted to try it, now is the right time!!! Peel season picks up in September and goes through end of April, mid May (although I offer lighter ones year round.) There may be a peel that is right for you. I can’t wait to show you wait a peel can do. There’s nothing old about a classic treatment!!!

How I Became an Esthetician

atikah-akhtar-6xlyKFFvufg-unsplash.jpg

If you had told me as a child that I would be an Esthetician when I grew up, I would have asked what that was. I didn't know the slightest thing about how a spa worked or who worked in one for that manner. I had had my hair professionally done, but that was my extent of knowing anything about beauty. I wanted to be a teacher.

Fast forward to me as a mom of three. I really wanted to work with a friend at a gym daycare and thought that it would be perfect for me and what I needed at the time. The stars aligned and I started working there within 2 weeks. A year or so later as we moved into a larger facility, my friend took on the role of managing the spa next door. And since I liked working with her so much, I also moved over 2 months later.

What happened there was a beautiful thing. I felt so at home and at awe of the environment. I wanted to be part of someone's special 'spa day.' I looked into school, but finding out that there was not one close by, I quickly set that idea aside. Only, it really never left me. From the moment I walked into that spa's doors, I was captivated by creating special moments. I started as a receptionist, then assistant manager, and finally manager (at yet another spa).

When the idea of attending Esthetics school presented itself 6 years later, I was all in. Because it's not about just a facial or a smooth wax. It's really about the experience for each client and making magic happen for them. I continued to grow and flourish at school and found that as doors closed, others opened. Did I see any of that coming? Not a chance! But it led me to opening Essential Esthetics by Zoey in June 2016. I haven't looked back since.

I use the knowledge that I've gained from working in every aspect of a spa and teach others starting out how to do the same thing. It's where I want to be each day. See you in the treatment room!

How Do I Grow My Brows Back In?

kate-hliznitsova-hCgmtpKRX94-unsplash.jpg

So you may have tweezed one hair too many for a decade, or your previous waxer may have gotten a little carried away. With full brows being in for a couple years now, I’ve seen many clients that want to add more back in to create a natural, full brow. Brow rehab is a thing, and I’m here to help you on your journey!

What can you expect when you are needing to grow your brows back in? Each hair on your body goes through a growing, resting and falling out phase. When it falls out, another hair is set to take its place. For brows, it could take 6 to 12 months for one brow hair to return. And because you don’t want to keep a hair that isn’t next to and in line with the other hairs that are apart of the current brow, it could take up to a year (or maybe a little more) to transform your brows.

This awkward stage will be minimized. We will work together and communicate what you like and don’t like about your brows. Then I will show you the brows that are in question and we’ll make a decision of how much awkward one can take. During this process, I encourage you to throw your tweezers away. Hide them. Out of sight, out of mind. Do not tweeze any brows so that I can see what is coming in, where it is coming in, and find your natural shape. This makes my job much easier AND (bonus!) helps you to get to your natural full shape sooner!

If brows are being stubborn, then I encourage you to use a growth serum to help speed up that process. Because it can take time for each hair to grow in, it is important to cultivate patience. Also, you’ll still want to keep up regular brow appointments (usually between 3 and 4 weeks). When we keep paying attention to something, it’s remarkable how that encourages them to grow in sooner.

Waxing versus tweezing. Another thing to note here is that when you wax, you are doing more damage to the follicle of the hair (which is great if you don’t want hair clear down on your eyelid.) Tweezing doesn’t have the same effect on the hair follicle. So if we are wanting a hair in the brow shape, but it’s too awkward to keep for now, I will continue to tweeze it versus waxing. Which is also another reason why you need to get rid of those tweezers!!!

If you’ve tried for months (or years) without success to grow your brows back in, it may be time to consider permanent makeup. Since we know every brow has it’s place, adding a little to the head of the brow, or the underneath side can make a world of difference. When choosing a permanent makeup artist, be sure to check out their portfolio, ask about their training and certifications, and make sure that you communicate and feel comfortable about the brow shape BEFORE they begin the service.

If you are ready to change your shape and even just fine tune what nature gave you, let’s get going today!

What is Cryotherapy?

DSC_8583.jpg

Cryotherapy is essentially cold therapy. This is used in many different services and is now being used in facials. You can put different tools in the fridge, ice water, etc and then use them in the facial massage portion of a facial. I’m excited to bring this therapy into the treatment room at Essential Esthetics by Zoey. If you are like me, you’re thinking, that’s cool (literally), but what are the benefits?

First and foremost, you are using extremely cold tools on the skin. This will immediately help puffiness, redness and inflammation. Chronic inflammation can cause many problems in the skin. I see this in most acne clients where the acne is red, inflamed and irritated. Soothing and calming down the inflammation can speed up the healing process with acne and reduce breakouts. Inflammation also speeds up the aging process. Our goals are always to slow down the aging, not to speed it up.

One of the most requested goals for clients that I see is to hep in the eye area, where you can see the stress, lack of sleep, etc. This type of massage can reduce the puffiness in the eye and sinus area.

When using these amazing cryotherapy tools, you can sculpt the face, working from the center of the face to the outer edges and up. This not only feels amazing and looks great for you, but it can also increase circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system to work better. This promotes healing in the skin.

Benefits to any type of facial massage include a stress relieving component!!! Lessening stress in your life through regular facial, massages or other spa treatments helps to slow down the aging that happens in the skin. If you have massage tools at home, I recommend you try it on yourself. Put your tool in the fridge for 20-30 minutes prior to using. Then use gentle and flowing movements from the center of the skin to the outer edges and working in an upward motion. Like a cold shower, it may take some getting used to. But the benefits of removing inflammation, increasing circulation, and relieving tension will have you believing too!!!

5 Best Mother's Day Gifts 2021

Did you know that Mother’s Day in the United States is the day where most phone calls are made? Yes it is and YES! We love the moms and wives in our lives. They are truly special and it’s just fun to recognize them. The grocery store aisle will be filled with random knickknacks you could buy her. She’ll love anything you pick out because it comes from you … but here are 5 of my favorite ideas.

#1 – Cards with personal notes

Yes, cards really are still meaningful if they come from the heart. Don’t wait until the last minute to pick out the card. Also, really think about something that you could say that would touch her. Let her know you care and that you love her in writing and also in words.

#2 – Time together

Spending time together, making memories and sharing your love is the best. I love scheduling a lunch date or even getting pedicures done together. Or hey! Maybe both on the same day.

#3 – Wish list

Did you see her eyes light up when she say that shirt at the mall? Or put something in the Amazon cart that she has no intention of purchasing for herself? These are fun gifts because you know she’ll love them … and will still be surprised. Pay attention to what she says (and then keep a note on your phone that lists ideas. You can also use these for her birthday or Christmas!)

#4 – The spa day

Each mom wants to have an escape and a day of relaxation. Gift certificates to the spa make amazing gifts for moms because that creates a reason to make an appointment. Self care is the gift that keeps giving. She’ll come home refreshed and ready to tackle the daily to dos that take over in her life. My favorite, of course, is a heavenly facial. I also enjoy massage. The relaxation and time to breathe really does make a difference. I’ve seen the power it’s had in my life and hope that others give it value.

#5 – Personalize with her interests in mind

Pay attention to what she really loves and get a gift that is centered around that. Flowers, crafts, running, etc. You can find a gift card or a gift subscription to really make the day special. Using google, you’ll find all sorts of things that you never knew existed. A big bonus if it includes a small, local business that you can help support too!

Thank you to all the moms who made us who we are! You are the best and we don’t tell you enough! I love you!

The Changing World and The Treatment Room with Me

Amid the Covid-19 outbreak during 2019-2020, most of the United States shut down for a period of time. In the state of Idaho, Governor Little officially closed down the state to non essential businesses on Wednesday, March 25th. This included hair salons, nail salons, and spas. As we will soon be headed back to the treatment room, I wanted to share a couple of highlights of what will be different with me.

For starters, as an esthetician, in order to get licensed through the state, there are 2 tests that must be taken. The first is a written test that is a variety of all of the information that has been learned during the classroom setting and through the textbook and workbook. The second is a practical exam. Although there are a couple of facial and waxing type things that you do with the mannequin head, the majority of that test is regarding cleaning and disinfecting. The proctor is there to make sure that we are equipped to keep our clients (and ourselves safe.)

I pride myself in keeping a tidy and well organized spa room. I wipe down surfaces, use the proper cleaning products and make sure that hand washing and hand sanitizer is used every time with every client. With the Covid-19 concerns, rest assured that the cleaning and disinfecting protocols have been stepped up even further with your safety in mind. The protocols will be displayed in the room.

What to expect when coming in for your appointment?

Clients will be asked to wait in their vehicles and to text me when you arrive. I will respond when the treatment room is ready for you. Upon arrival, please use the hand sanitizer. The linens from the table have been removed for waxing, lash lifting, and for express facials. Gloves are always worn for waxing services and will be worn for any service if you would like. For the clinical and signature facials, the linens will be set up just for you. All bedding will be changed in between clients. There is a new plastic tote basket that I will ask you to use for your belongs. This will make it easier for me to clean and disinfect between appointments. A mask will also be worn if requested.

The check out process

I accept cash and credit/debit cards. Since my phone is used for the check out process, I will have you lay down your card on the table so that I can type in the information. From there, I will ask you if you wish to leave a tip that day, and if so how much you would like to use. As time permits, we will also reschedule your appointment. If time is limited, I will contact you after clients for that day to reschedule for the next day.

As always, the customer service you have grown to expect and love will be top notch. For me, it's always about the experience... the conversations that we have, kicking your feet back, and relaxing as I help you with your skin care needs. If you have questions or suggestions, please know my door is open. Thank you for your business and I can't wait to see you once again at Essential Esthetics by Zoey.

Deciphering Between New Skin Treatments

freestocks-pUvMN3j2kGc-unsplash.jpg

It's in your news feed on FaceBook, the tiles on Instagram, and even your favorite Beauty magazines and beauty bloggers are talking about it! You blink and feel like you've missed the last century with information on the latest with skin care. Does this feel familiar to you?

There are SO many new technologies, new research, and new ingredients that regularly hit the skin care world that it's hard to keep track of it all. Many clients have a hard time deciphering between all of the different BUZZ words that are used to describe new services. I'm here to help you remember once and for all what each of them mean and how you can keep them straight.

Microneedling

Microneedling is also known by the names Microchanneling, Collagen Induction Therapy, and C.I.T. You may have even heard of the Vampire Facial or PRP. All of these are related to microneedling but the Vampire Facial or PRP also uses your own platlets (or blood) to promote wound healing and is typically performed in a medical spa. Microneedling is where small needles prick the skin which stimulates collagen production. It is very effective in a series (I always recommend it that way) and can continue to improve the skin's appearance and texture up to six months after your appointment. This service is great for those with light acne scaring, fine lines and wrinkles, and large pores.  Depending on if you are seeing an esthetician or a dermatologist will determine the depth that the small needles can prick the skin. I recommend using great products before treatment and growth factor or stem cell serum after treatment. You will also need mineral makeup to wear for the next week. And it's even better if you can go without! You can be red and irritated for up to a couple days post treatment, but there is very little downtime.

Making MICRONEEDLING easier to understand --->

What happens when you aerate your lawn in the spring? Sure, it might look a little weird right after it is performed, but then all of a sudden, your grass looks so healthy and beautiful that you want to have a glorious picnic and maybe lay in it. (Was I over dramatic there?) This is the same concept with your skin!

Nanoneedling

Nanoneedling is also known as Nano Infusion Therapy. If microneedling is something you've been thinking about, but you aren't quite ready to do that, this would be a baby step in the right direction. This treatment creates micro pathways to deliver serums and other nutrients from the skin care past the dead skin cells where they can more fully be utilized. This treatment also works well to treat those who would like to work on light acne scaring, fine lines and wrinkles, and larger pores. It's also great for those with sensitive skin. I love this technology so much, that I've added it into the newest member of our facial line up - The Cinderella.

Making NANONEEDLING easier to understand --->

Imagine a tiny waffle plate (elf size) that shake down products into the skin. You feel a vibration, but it's not painful and still delivers a powerful punch. Nano is less than micro as far as how far the products can penetrate the skin.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is an amazing and favorite exfoliation treatment.  It's also known as microplaning or blading. It was first mentioned in the 1970s, but have continuned to gain steam in the United States as an exceptional alternative to chemical exfoliation. (Can I get an AMEN from all of the nursing and pregnant mamas out there?) All walks of life LOVE this service because it is known for its immediate glow on the skin. Dermaplaning uses a dermatological scalpel which glides back and forth on the skin, picking up dead skin cells as well as the peach fuzz. It feels like a credit card is moving across each section of your face. The results are instant and include better product penetration, smoother looking makeup, and reducing the appearance of acne scaring, among many others.

Making it easier to understand --->

This exfoliation service removes the very outer layer of dead skin cells as well as the vellus hair on the face, revealing smoother, brighter skin for improved skin tone and texture. Think of a PLANE landing on a runway and barely touching down.

Microblading

Microblading also known as embroidery, feather touch, hair-like strokes or even 3D brows. This technique first came to the scene about 25 years ago in Asia and finally took hold of the western population about 2015. This semi permanent makeup service is performed on the brows to create strokes that look like the actual brow hairs. You'll want to find an artist that has been certified in this procedure and that has a great portfolio of his or her own work. The hairs should never cross. Permanent makeup is a great option for those who have sparse and/or aging brows. Touch ups are recommended every 12-18 months. While considered 'permanent', it is actually a semi permanent treatment as the colors fade out in the skin but never leave completely.

Making it easier to understand --->

Think of the letter M to stand for - micro/makeup. This looks like hairstrokes, can be done with different tools and will save you time drawing on eyebrows each day.

If you've ever been curious about lash lifting, you are in the right place. Through the last couple of decades, the rise of enhancing eyelashes has been on the rise. First strips, then eyelash extensions, and now the every popular baby of lash lifting. The ease of the maintenance process is one of the most appealing benefits for busy working woman and even stay at home moms.

Pros - Enhancing what your mama gave you!

If you want better looking eyelashes, but don't want to put something synthetic on your natural lashes, eyelash lifting is going a great choice for you! Eyelashes growing straight out don't look that long. But when they are lifted up and curled, you can definitely notice them more!

Pros - Time Saver!

The problem for most women is that this takes time with a manual eyelash curler or a heated eyelash curler, eyelash primer, and then mascara. You would curl your lashes every morning, get everything in place and go on with your day. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Want to cut out 5 minutes of your morning routine? In walks eyelash lifting! Come in for an hour appointment every 6 to 8 weeks. That's it!

Pros - Great lashes on the beach and at the pool everytime!

Because you are just using your natural lashes, you don't have to worry about getting your lashes wet or what the water will do to them. Combine the lash lifting service with a tint, and you are pretty set to not even wear mascara on those beach days. While lash lifting typically lasts 6-8 weeks, lash tinting lasts an average of 3-4 weeks.

Pros - Get va-va-voom when you want or keep it simple!

It's easy to get a va-va-voom with lash lifting. Just add on mascara (or primer and mascara) and see them lift a little more and thicken a little more. Or you can choose to keep it simple and just wear them with the lash and tint. It's very easy!

Pros - Easy aftercare!

With this service, the aftercare is easy! The better you stick with the aftercare, the better your results will be overall. Here's what you need to remember:

For 24 hours:

No mascara, eye makeup

Keep them dry and don't touch them

No eye creams

For 48 hours:

No steam

No saunas

No swimming

No lash growth serums

This service has been around a long time and was known as lash perming. But with any great service, this one has bee upgraded with better rods (where you place the lashes) that are more comfortable for the client and a superior product that stays fresh and ready for the client each and every time (say goodbye to oxidation). If you are ready to give this treatment a try, hop on over to pick an appointment that works for you!

Marrying the Old with the New

There are so many treatments and services available to clients in 2018. It's amazing to see how far technology has taken us and where we are headed. There are treatments that estheticians have been performing for many, many years. You know what they say about those. Oldies, but goodies. And others are pretty new to the scene in my treatment room. In the with new, out with the old. Does that have to be the case? What if you could have the best of both worlds?

Marrying old with the new.jpg

There are so many treatments and services available to clients in 2018. It's amazing to see how far technology has taken us and where we are headed. There are treatments that estheticians have been performing for many, many years. You know what they say about those. Oldies, but goodies. And others are pretty new to the scene in my treatment room. In the with new, out with the old. Does that have to be the case? What if you could have the best of both worlds?

I would love to "propose" marrying old services with new ones for optimal benefits. Here are four techniques to consider that I currently use in the treatment room for facials. Which do you think are old and which are new? Say hello to High Frequency, Microdermabrasion, Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber, and Rose Quartz Massage Tool.

High Frequency

High Frequency is also known as Tesla high frequency current and was developed in 1892. Named after the inventor, Nikola Tesla, this was used to treat strep throat and other skin conditions before antibiotics were in play. In the 1970, European spas noticed the change on skin when using them in facial treatments. And how it so often happens, North America follow suit in the 1980s.

How it works

High Frequency uses alternating or sinusoidal current which produces a heating effect with vibration. In the glass electrode, the oxygen is removed and neon or argon gas is put inside which creates a yellow/orange/red or blue/purple hue and a buzzing sound. The electrode is applied to the face (usually gauze is in between the skin and the hand piece) and slowly moved over the areas. Indirect sparking is where the electrode is placed close to the area without touching and is able to bridge the gap sending energy into the skin.

Benefits

  • Stimulates blood circulation

  • Increases absorption

  • Increases metabolism

  • Relieves congestion

  • Has an antiseptic and healing effect on skin

  • Helps coagulate and heal open lesions after extractions

  • Generates a warm, relaxing effect on skin

Nutshell

High frequency sends a low wave energy source which helps products penetrate better on the face while drying up acne and healing the skin.

Microdermabrasion

This technique developed over time, but started around 1500 BC with sandpaper, then wheels and needles. The first microdermabrasion (also known as microderm) machine was invented in Italy by Dr. Mattioli and Dr. Brutto. By mid 1990s, microderm machines were seen across America. Traditionally, crystals and vacuum suction were used to exfoliate the skin. Other machines offer diamond tips.

How it works

Microderm is a powerful electronic vacuum with high grade microcrystals that spray onto the skin's surface through a hand piece. It can be done quickly in a 30 minute treatment or part of a facial.

Benefits

  • Diminish sun damage, pigmentation, open and closed comedones, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and coarsely textured skin

  • Stimulates blood flow

  • Stimulates metabolism

Nutshell

Microderm is a non invasive procedure that gently exfoliates dead skin cells of the face while polishing the skin to be smooth and soft and stimulating collagen growth and healthy looking skin.

Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber

The Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber is also known as the Ultrasonic Spatula is considered the new generation of microdermabrasion. Which is a little ironic, seeing as how ultrasonic devices have been showing up in treatment rooms since the 1980s (but Microderm was 1996). This treatment has really taken off and is one of my NEW favorite options.

How it works

Ultrasonic tool is placed on the skin with product and/or water. The tool is used on both sides - one for exfoliating and the other for product penetration. It uses a frequency above the sound range of a human ear and works for cleanse, exfoliate or push product.

Benefits

  • Soft peeling of the skin

  • Exfoliation of dead skin cells

  • Removal of black heads

  • Stimulates natural collagen fibers

  • Helps in rebuilding tissues

Nutshell

Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber can first help to cleanse, exfoliate and remove debris effectively and second increase product penetration so you see amazing results.

Rose Quartz Massage Tool

Another new to me technique I've been using is the Rose Quartz Massage Tool. Stones have been used for ages and rose quartz is said to be a high energy stone that produces love. It opens up the heart chakra which causes self-love, leading to love for others. (This feels a lot like self-care. LOVE it!) Gem stone facials have been used before recorded history, but they are new to my treatment room. Manual lymphatic drainage was developed in the 1930s by Emil Vodder.

How it works

Using this tool, I apply massage oil and then gently press these stones in a specific pattern to release stress points and to promote lymphatic drainage. It is simple, but yet I am thrilled every time I perform this treatment. It just feels amazing on the skin.

Benefits

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Reduces puffiness

  • Increase circulation

  • Drain congested lymph nodes

  • Rid the body of toxins and waster

  • Stimulate collagen production and improve elasticity

  • Promotes anti-aging

Have you tried all four? If you haven't tried each of these treatments, now is your time. Schedule an appointment today and we'll go over the specific benefits for you!

Watch Out! 3 Things to Check at Your Facial Appointment

I love receiving regular spa treatments from other local estheticians and massage therapists. Not only do I find them relaxing, but I get to take in the experience from a client's perspective. I hope it keeps not only my skin and mind fresh, but that it also helps me to see what I could do better.

book appointment.jpg

I love receiving regular spa treatments from other local estheticians and massage therapists. Not only do I find them relaxing, but I get to take in the experience from a client's perspective. I hope it keeps not only my skin and mind fresh, but that it also helps me to see what I could do better.

I look for an inviting space with fun conversation and awesome results. Personality is big for me. I want to feel loved, pampered, and rejuvenated from a month of stress. This is my down time and I'm ready to enjoy each and every minute of it!

So what happens when you go to your long awaited appointment and worry about laying on the table. Are you thinking,

"Will this person help me?"

"How can I trust them?"

"How will I know if there is a red flag?"

Here are 3 starter hints that you may want to find a different professional. No intake form or consultation; having messy instruments, overflowing trash and dirty linens; and no gloves. These could make you want to be like Forest. Run Forest, run!

1) No intake form or consultation

Believe it or not, but everything we do affects our skin. As the largest organ of the body, the skin is the barrier to protect bad things from getting into our bodies and also helping keep good things, like water, inside the body. Through an intake form or consultation, your esthetician learns about your WHOLE body and how to help you reach your goals of your daily treatment.

One example on my current intake form is to please list all medications. If you were taking Accutane or using a Retin-A cream (commonly know as Tretinoin), this would be a contraindiction of waxing. Why? Accutane or Retin-A is extremely large doses of vitamin A which thins the skin. Thinner skin means that this is actually an exfoliation treatment. Getting rid of dead skin helps to expose acne to oxygen which means the acne bacteria is killed. Waxing also is in it's own way, an exfoliation treatment. So using Accutane/Retin A AND waxing would be over exfoliating the skin. And if you've been following and reading along with me, you know that too much of a good thing ... really isn't good!

What you can do!

Make sure to update your health history with your esthetician when you come in for your regular appointments.

2) Messy instruments, overflowing trash, and dirty linens

Having a clean working space is an indication that your esthetician not only loves what she does, but that he or she is sanitizing the area and getting rid of the germs for the next client!

One of the things that I check is the wax pot. The outside should be wiped down (at least periodically) so that it is not covered with sticky and unattractive wax.

Make sure the trash can isn't overflowing with garbage. It's also nice when the outside of the garbage can looks okay. Sure, it holds the trash, but the can itself doesn't have to look bad.

Did you recently watch the Insider Edition on the hotel that was not changing their sheets? Ugh! Fresh sheets and towels equal a happy client, right? Right!

What you can do!

Make sure that your treatment room has a thing called a barbicide jar. It is a disinfectant solution for tools that estheticians use, like tweezers.

3) No gloves

No gloves is okay for some treatments but not for others. Recognize that if your esthetician is doing extractions where you release acne from the skin or waxing (especially on the body), gloves are a standard precaution for both of you.

What you can do!

Don't be afraid to speak up and ask for gloves. You know your own health, but you don't know your esthetician's health.

What other things have you noticed at your treatment? Don't be shy in requesting something different. Afterall, you are paying for the appointment and you deserve the best!

It's All About YOU! Giving You the Royal Treatment

When you come to visit me at Essential Esthetics by Zoey, I strive each time for excellence and to give you the royal treatment. This means adding little extra touches to make sure you have the best experience every time. These little additions include scheduling, cleanliness, caring touch, conversation or silence plus music, quotes and chocolate, the late jar, products, and education.

Scheduling

Scheduling can be tricky, but I do my best to fit you in at times that are most convenient for you. I also offer online booking as a convenience for my clients. You can also text me and I'll answer as soon as I am able.

Cleanliness

Keeping the room neat, tidy and sanitary is of upmost importance to any service you receive. Everything is sanitized and wiped down after each client. I have received an A classification from the State of Idaho on each room inspection (which is the highest grade.)

Caring Touch

I aim for a gentle and caring touch for each treatment. Customized signature facials are not complete without great facial massage, relaxing hand and arm massage, and scalp massage to unwind the stresses of the day. When performing eyelash treatments, I keep a light yet firm touch as not to startle you. I also like explaining what I'm doing when your eyes are closed. When waxing, I apply firm pressure after removing the wax strips to confuse the nerves... it really helps.

Conversation/Silence plus Music

I love visiting with my clients if that what they would like. Or we can relax in peace and quiet. You pick the radio station that we listen to (or even a podcast) and then I work on creating the best experience for you with the treatment that you have selected for the day.

Quotes and Chocolates

Little extras go a long way in creating an experience. When you come in for a facial treatment (Signature Facials, Customized Treatments, Chemical Peels, or Dermaplaning), you will receive a quote card and a luxurious chocolate. It's the cherry on top of the sundae, and I know that you'll agree it's a great way to end the service.

The Late Jar

Your time is valuable and I work to be on time or early at each appointment. Life does happen though, so I want to say "I'm sorry" in a unique way. If I'm late coming to get you, you can choose a free sample in my late jar. The samples are exclusively GM Collin and are amazing!

Products

Services and treatments would not be complete without the very best in skin care. I've selected the best that I think is out there for each service that I offer and I don't skimp with off brand or just whatever is on sale. I continue searching for products that may be better than I'm offering as you deserve the very best. If I find something better, I will make the switch.

Education

Every year, I take classes to keep up my skills and to give you more of what you are looking for. By improving those areas, I am able to offer top of the line expertise, providing a better service, and sharing more knowledge with you in answering your questions.

First class service is waiting right around the corner for you. What are you waiting for? Schedule your appointment today and see what everyone is talking about. 208.705.5821

Brazilian Waxing 411

When you hear the word "Brazilian," what do you think? I'm here to answer all of your questions on what a Brazilian Wax actually is and what your experience with me would be like if you came in for this service.

bRAZILIAN.jpg

When you hear the word "Brazilian," what do you think? I'm here to answer all of your questions on what a Brazilian Wax actually is and what your experience with me would be like if you came in for this service.

What does Bikini, Brazilian, Manzilian, etc. mean?

Bikini Wax

Removing the hair outside of the bikini line, plus about 1/2 inch in. Just on the top and the sides. You will wear the cutest pair of disposable undies ever! (I don't think they actually make them cute... just saying!)

Deep Bikini Wax

Removing almost all of top hair and then on the sides and 1/2 inch in. Paper underwear included.

Brazilian

Female wax where hair is removed everywhere. Yes, even the backside or the Aussie as I like to call it. Some also choose to leave a strip or triangle, but it is all personal preference.

Manzilian

Same as the female brazilian only for a man. I do not perform these, but will give out referrals for those seeking this service.

Now you know the difference on the waxing options, here's what to expect when you walk through the doors.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

  1. You will fill out a client intake form online that gives me a little history about you (skin care, tanning, general health, and medications) as well as a consent form to do the waxing. Tanning and other medications including antibiotics are a contraindication of performing this service. Please let me know if there is a change in medical information at the start of each appointment.

  2. We'll walk back to the treatment room together. I have set out a sanitized waxing pad with 2 towels, wipes, and a neck pillow. While I step out of the room and push play on your favorite music, you will undress from the waist down, use a wipe to clean up if you wish, and put one towel underneath your bottom and one towel covering you on top.

  3. From there, we get down to business. It's my job to keep you as comfortable as possible while removing your hair quickly and efficiently. That's what you are paying me for. I use a combination of soft and hard waxes of the highest professional quality to get the job done. I give you a minute to breathe if you need it, but most prefer to zip in and out and get on with their day. After each pull, I apply pressure to confuse the nerves (as they can only receive one type of information at a time - pressure confuses the nerve to thinking, "Am I feeling pain or pressure? I'm not sure.") After waxing, I'll put on a calming lotion, balm or serum to relieve the skin and cover you back up with the towel.

  4. I step out while you get dressed and meet you outside of my treatment room and walk to the front with you. From there, we'll reschedule you for about 4 weeks and complete payment. Easy, peasy, pudding, pie as Georgie Porgie would say.

  5. After care is pretty simple. Don't exfoliate for 2-3 days, but after that time, you'll want to exfoliate the area being waxed once or twice a week. (Remember what I always say - more is not always better... and this is just another example of that saying.) No tanning or hot tubbing for 48 hours. Be sensitive to the area for 24 hours. Use aloe if needed.

I ALWAYS recommend coming in twice in a row (so your first appointment and then wait 4 weeks) because the 2nd time is about 1/2 of the pain. Yes, this is true. So, come twice AND THEN decide if you want to keep the service up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it hurt?

Well, waxing (the removal of hair) doesn't feel great like a facial, but it doesn't hurt as long as you think it will either. By the time you are getting dressed, most of the pain is gone.

What's the most painful area to wax?

Are you holding on to your seats ladies and gentlemen? Here is the truth... the upper lip.

How long does my hair have to be to wax?

I recommend 1/4-1/2 inch long, which is generally 2-3 weeks after shaving. This will allow me to pick up the little hairs and get you smoother longer.

How long will I be hair free?

This one is tricky because with all treatments, every client is different and hair grows at different stages. Only the hair that is out of the skin can be waxed, so baby hairs just under the skin at wax time will poke through in a couple of days. The longer you come in, the longer you will remain smooth. The hair remaining will be softer and not as irritating as blunt, shaved hair.

How often should I come in?

The magic number for Brazilian is 4 weeks. This gives time for all of the hair to cycle through and will start teaching the hair that it doesn't have to show up until right before that time. As you continue to wax, the time might increase to 5 weeks or even 6 weeks.

What are the advantages from waxing over shaving?

Waxing will last longer, fewer ingrowns, and is done much quicker. If you are irritated by shaving, chances are waxing will be much easier on you as well.

Can I be waxed when I am on my cycle?

The answer is yes, but it can be just a little more painful. Make sure that you are wearing a cup or a fresh tampon and we'll take care of the hair just like your regular appointments.

Have a question that hasn't been asked? Send me an email and I'll gladly answer you privately and make sure to add the question and answer for others to find this helpful information. Now that you know what to expect, what's holding you back? Let's schedule your appointment!

My Eye is on Milia

Have you ever noticed a small, hard white bump on your skin? If you've gone to pop it and had zero luck, you may be dealing with milia. Most commonly, milia are on the eylids or cheeks.

Milia.jpg

Have you ever noticed a small, hard white bump on your skin? If you've gone to pop it and had zero luck, you may be dealing with milia. Most commonly, milia are on the eylids or cheeks.

Like any form of acne, keratin (dead skin cells) get trapped on their way up to the surface of the skin causing a cyst. Milia most often occurs due to using pore clogging ingredients in the area. The skin cannot slough off the dead skin cells fast enough and they glom together to create this pearl like hard bump. Long term exposure to the skin as well as genetics can also play a role in the creation of milia.

Think you can wiggle these out on your own? Think again! These pesky bumps will need exfoliation or extraction. Exfoliation can be through mechanical, chemical, or enzymatic. What does that mean?

Exfoliation

Mechanical are the "scrubbies" - make sure that you use a scrub where they are uniform and not jagged nut particles. These scrubs will not off the top bricks (dead skin cells) helping work these further up the skin to the outer most portion. The microderm treatment is a great one for deep cleaning the face. Spacell also helps at home to keep that exfoliation process continuing.

Chemical are the lactic, gycolic, etc - all of those acid names that are going to eat away the mortar of your brick wall, similar to pac man. Retinols are also considered a chemical exfoliant and work well for acne and anti aging clients. Chemicals like these should not be used close to the eye. Stop at the occipital bone.

Enzymatic are similar to chemical but through are fruit enzymes (chemicals are through fruit acids) - they work like pac man to eat keratin in a more gentle way.

Extraction

Oftentimes when faced with milia, you will want to see a dermatologist or esthetician to perform extractions (removal). This have to be done with a lancet and the right technique. But insto presto... they are out and gone!

Prevention

What do you need to do for your skin in the future if you are prone to milia? Here are a couple of my recommendations.

1) Use appropriate cleanser to remove eye makeup every night.

Look for something that is for the eye area and make sure to remove all product thoroughly. You'll also want to cleanse the skin with something hydrating and appropriate for your skin type.

2) Use a light weight eye cream or gel.

Let's face it. Eye cream, especially for anti aging is important. It is not appropriate to use facial moisturizer around the eye. The skin around the eye is different than the rest of the face. When applying the eye cream, make sure to gently rub it in (ring finger only and very, very light!!!) Do not just set it on the top of the skin.

3) Exfoliate the skin.

Every skin type needs a little help in this department unless you are in your early teens and lower. Consult with your esthetician to find a professional product that will do its job. One of my phrases is more is not always better. The same applies here.

4) SPF is key.

Always, always use SPF. Skin that is damaged by the sun has more tough layers, which makes exfoliation very difficult and is a breeding ground for milia.

If you've got your eye on milia, or the other way around, find a professional to help evaluate what you can do to improve your skin!

Don't forget to Breathe. Let Go. Relax.

Top 3 Reasons Acne Stays

Ahhh! The dreaded acne. As teenagers, this is something to be expected perhaps. Still, it is an unwelcomed house guest that we can't wait to see go! Maybe you are in your 20s and are noticing these blemishes appear on your skin overnight. 30s and still seeing problems along with a change of hormones and overwhelming stress. And 40s! What?!?! Say that it can't be true that you can get acne in your 40s.

Ane Stays.jpg

Whichever phase you find yourself in, let me suggest my top 3 reasons why acne stays, hanging on for dear life.

1) Picking

There... I said it. Picking. Even I will catch myself running my fingers along my jawline only for one of the digits to make contact with a bump. And I scratch, pick, and try to manipulate that bump to come out of my skin. The story from there continues because once I know it's there, I can't stop. Even today, my children's dentist told me that he read you touch your face 32,000 times a day!!!

Has this happened to you? I can relate and sympathize. But it's a problem. And there's a reason why I put it at the number one spot on my list. Picking spreads the P. acnes (Propionibacterium acnes) on the skin. Once you start, you likely can't stop, so you are literally spreading bacteria all day long on your face or other body areas afflicted.

Solution

Recognize if there are certain times of day it occurs, or when you pass a mirror, etc. Write yourself reminder on the bathroom vanity with a dry erase or sticky note. Switch activities. Wash your hands, drink more water, read a good book... do anything besides picking!

2) Using Too Harsh Of Ingredients

Many acne clients like the feel of a scrub or the tingle of a cleanser. But, let me be clear. Just because it's a stronger product does not mean it's right for your skin. Acne is plagued with inflammation and so if you increase inflammation, your acne will likely have a hard time clearing on the skin.

Aggressive scrubs should be thrown out if you have grade III or IV acne. Toners that have alcohol must too hit the garbage. Often the right gentle products will be more effective (working in a quicker time frame and actually targeting the different types of acne) than if you pick the strongest percentages of an acid.

Solution

Work with a licensed professional to seek products that will help kill the acne WHILE preserving the barrier of your skin, which is the skin's main function.

3) Not Finding The Real Symptoms

Sure, you used a product for 3 months and you think you are healed. Maybe you decide to go off of the products OR you are still using them and the unwelcomed house guest announces it has to stay for an undetermined amount. Sadly, many times this is what acne clients (and maybe you) have faced.

Let me give you some hope here. Truth - Acne is a disease. While it cannot be cured, it can be CONTROLLED! This means that you must find out the real reason why your acne started and is staying. This could be stress, diet, external or internal factors. Those in the field have spent their entire lifetimes researching and studying and writing on this one topic. And they have learned so much about pimples, cysts, nodules, etc.

Solution

Work with a licensed professional to investigate the root of the problem. Many times there are simple things you can do to turn around everything in your skin. If researchers spend years searching for answers, it would be to your benefit to use this research first. (You can research on your own, but how do you even know where to start? Google can only help you if you are typing in the correct searches.)

I love working with acne clients. It takes patience, perseverance, and most importantly the courage to say, "I need help." I'll help you! Let's kick out the unwelcomed guest once and for all!

5 Tips for Keeping Perfect Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash Extensions are here to stay. They offer the flexibility to get ready easily and quickly each morning! You won't have to worry about crying in public, raccoon eyes from mascara, or removing it all off after a long hard day of work.

Lash Extensions.jpg

Eyelash Extensions are here to stay. They offer the flexibility to get ready easily and quickly each morning! You won't have to worry about crying in public, raccoon eyes from mascara, or removing it all off after a long hard day of work.

You will however, want to keep note of these fantastic tips for keeping your eyelashes in tip top condition in between fills.

1) Be strict about not getting them wet for 24 hours.

The adhesive needs time to cure, so it's important to keep them dry, Wash your hair the day you come in. Steam is another no-no because it's really water vapor. The less you mess with them for the first 24 hours, the better off you'll be.

2) Remember, heat is your enemy.

If you cook or barbecue, be sure to protect your lashes. Eyelash extensions are made to be heat resistant, but they will bend, crimp, or singe if you stand over a pot of boiling water, get your face right in when you open the oven, or being the master BBQ chef at a family get together!

3) Mascara is always a NO.

You are wearing lash extensions so you do not need to wear mascara. The main ingredients in mascara include oil and wax products, which break down the bond of the eyelash extension and adhesive. You can use mascara on the bottom lashes, but add mascara to your tops and you will notice more and more eyelash extensions will fall off.

4) No touching.

They look gorgeous and you can't help but touch them with your dainty fingers. Just like the exhibits in the museum say, Please do not touch, your lash artist will ask you to do the same thing. Natural oils on your hands do just what mascara does... break down the adhesive bond. Look, use your mascara spoolie as needed to keep them going in the right directions, but never touch!

5) Wash these babies too.

Yes, you are not supposed to get them wet at first. But you do want to make sure that you wash them to remove dirt, oils, and the rest of your daily makeup after those first 24 hours have past. Use eyelash cleanser for extensions (no oil, glycol, etc.) or baby shampoo diluted to give them a cleanse daily.

These tips are sure to help you keep the perfect eyelash extensions all year round!

How Often Should I...? Part II Treatments

While home skin care should always be number 1 over coming to see a professional, treatments done with your Esthetician can be very effective and boost what you are doing on your own. If you were to hold up a mirror and look back at the image that you see, what would you change? Some of us would like to work on fine lines and wrinkles, some acne scarring would be gone first, and others really would like to see the age spots disappear like a magic trick

While home skin care should always be number 1 over coming to see a professional, treatments done with your Esthetician can be very effective and boost what you are doing on your own. If you were to hold up a mirror and look back at the image that you see, what would you change? Some of us would like to work on fine lines and wrinkles, some acne scarring would be gone first, and others really would like to see the age spots disappear like a magic trick. Whatever you would like to work on, make sure that you team up with a professional so that we can get the job done together!

When working with me, the first things that we address are hydration of the skin and sensitivity. It doesn't make sense to start on the 2nd level of the house, when the ground floor issues are hydration and sensitivity. Starting there, once these have corrected as best we can (usually 1-2 months), we can move on. We could then work on the above issues of anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, and acne (active or old scarring.)

I offer many tools to get the job done and depending on how your skin responds to the treatments, your open time to spend with me, and your budget, we put together a plan of "How often you should see your esthetician." In general, once a month for maintenance is amazing. If this is not possible, it is VITAL that you come in every quarter for a deep cleanse, exfoliation, and nourishment of the skin as the seasons change. Yes, it's Idaho and we have 4 seasons! So about every 3 months. Microneedling, Specialty Facials, and Chemical Peels excel in a series treatment. They are designed to build upon each other! But the more regularly you come, the greater the results you will see down the road as your skin begins to age.

Currently, I offer the following treatments to address your concerns: Microneedling, Microdermabrasion, Signature Facials (both in 90 or 60 minutes), Specialty Facials (Algomask and Hydrolifting), Chemical Peels, and Dermaplaning. All of these have value and most of the time, mixing and matching is ideal as you want to keep your skin guessing and using all of the great options to help your skin heal, glow, and revitalize to it's optimal blueprint.

I love making custom plans, so please contact me and we'll come up with something that will work well for you, your skin, and your skin care goals.

You'll spend $XXX on a purse you'll use for 2 years. How much will you spend on your face that you will have for a lifetime? $XXX It's worth your investment!
